What Steal an Egg is, in the developer's own words
The official description on the Roblox page lists the whole game in seven lines: steal eggs from pets; hatch eggs to collect rare pets; earn money from your pets; upgrade your treadmill and base; train on the treadmill to gain speed; steal eggs from other players; discover rarer eggs, pets, sizes and mutations. It also confirms the game runs on desktop, console, mobile and tablet, and that servers hold a maximum of seven players.
That last number matters more than it looks. Seven players per server means every nest you see is contested by at most six other people, and every pen you fill is a target for the same six. Most of the strategy on this site — which zone to farm, how many bear traps to lay, when to sit on a pen and when to go steal — follows from that seven-player ceiling.
The genre tag is Simulation › Tycoon. In practice it plays like a chase game wrapped around an idle economy: the running and dodging is what you do with your hands, and the income per second is what happens while you are doing it.

The loop, step by step
Everything below is documented on the community wiki's Eggs and Area pages and matches the official description. Eggs sit in nests inside zones. Each zone has its own set of eggs — eight in every normal zone — and nests reset every five minutes, so a zone you have just emptied refills on a short timer.
A guardian sleeps next to the nests. You walk up, take an egg, and run. Bigger eggs are worth more but are heavier, which slows you down; the wiki is explicit that having enough speed to enter a zone does not mean you have enough speed to get back out with a large egg. Speed is trained on the treadmill at your base and can be multiplied with Robux boosts.
Back at the base the egg goes into a pen and grows for a fixed time — ten seconds for a Forest Chicken, sixteen hours for the Titan Temple Nightflame — then hatches into a pet that pays money every second. Money buys better pens, treadmills and trails; speed opens the next zone; the next zone has better eggs. Other players can walk into your base and take an egg out of your pen, which is why the game is called what it is.
- Enter a zone whose speed requirement you meet (Forest needs none; Lake needs 900; Titan Temple needs 7 billion).
- Wait for the guardian to be asleep, take an egg, and run for the base — the bigger the egg, the slower you are.
- Drop it in a pen. Lay bear traps around the pen if you are holding something valuable (max three, seven-second hold, none in the safe zone).
- Let it grow. Hatch. Read the pet card: base income, size in kg, and any colour mutation.
- Spend income on pens, treadmill and trails. Train speed. Move one zone further out.
The rarity ladder and what each tier is worth
The wiki's pet database uses eleven rarity labels for zone pets — Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythic, Cosmic, Secret, Eternal, Divine and Event — plus a Monster tier used for the Rift and event bosses. Across the 128 documented pets, the base income spread between the bottom and the top of the ladder is roughly nine orders of magnitude: a Forest Chicken lists $1/s, a Titan Temple Nightflame lists 3B/s.
The table below uses the wiki's own infobox values, quoted as listed, and counts how many pets sit in each tier. Base income is for a normal-size pet with no mutation; the mutations page explains how the multipliers stack on top.
| Rarity | Pets | Base income range | Highest-earning example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 5 | $1/s – $6/s | Jerboa (Desert), $6/s |
| Uncommon | 3 | $8/s – $18/s | Fennec (Desert), $18/s |
| Rare | 11 | $35/s – $280/s | Dodo (Prehistoric), $280/s |
| Epic | 12 | $180/s – $4K/s | Crane (Cherry Blossom), $4K/s |
| Legendary | 16 | $1.8K/s – $130K/s | Crustacia (Titan Temple), $130K/s |
| Mythic | 15 | $16K/s – $450K/s | Red Panda (Cherry Blossom), $450K/s |
| Cosmic | 17 | up to $17.5M/s | Rhinotaur (Titan Temple), $17.5M/s |
| Secret | 15 | $1.25M/s – $215M/s | Mutant Shark (Titan Temple), $215M/s |
| Eternal | 13 | $65M/s – $900M/s | Void Serpent (Rift), $900M/s |
| Divine | 4 | $1B/s – $3.5B/s | Shattered Colossus (Rift), $3.5B/s |
| Monster | 12 | $10K/s – $4B/s | Mecha Dreadscale (Event), $4B/s |
| Event | 5 | $5M/s – $600M/s | Ember Dragon (Event), $600M/s |
How rare the top tiers really are — from the game's own badge statistics
Roblox publishes, for every badge, the percentage of players who have earned it. Steal an Egg has six badges and their numbers are the closest thing to official rarity data that exists. On 13 September 2026 the 'WELCOME!' badge sat at 7.8 % — a reminder that most of the game's billions of visits are short sessions that never trigger it. 'Hatched Secret!' was at 3.4 %, 'Hatched Eternal!' at 1.7 %, 'Divine Trail!' at 1.0 %, 'Hatched Divine!' at 0.8 % and 'Angelic Treadmill!' at 0.5 %.
Read those together and the shape of the game appears: fewer than one player in a hundred has hatched a Divine pet, and the players who bought the top treadmill are rarer still. If a video or a Discord post tells you Divine hatches are common, the badge page disagrees.
Zones: the speed gates that structure the whole game
There are eleven zones on the normal route and a twelfth, Angels & Demons, added to the wiki on 12 September 2026. Each has a speed requirement and a guardian. Forest has no gate and a Chicken; Lake needs 900 speed and is guarded by a Swan; Desert needs 10K (Scorpion); Jungle roughly 40K (Tiger); Snow roughly 170K (Yeti); Volcano roughly 700K (Cerberus); Abyss Ocean roughly 2.5M (Moby); Prehistoric roughly 17–18M (T-Rex); Cosmic 700M (Cosmic Skeleton); Cherry Blossom 2.5B (Oni Tiger); Titan Temple 7B (Gorilla King); Angels & Demons 20B, with separate Angel and Demon guardians.
Because each zone holds exactly eight pets on the normal route, the zone page doubles as a shopping list. The top egg in each zone is usually the one people fight over on a seven-player server; the second or third egg is often the better use of a run when the nest for the top one is camped.
Mutations and sizes: where the real income comes from
A hatched pet's card shows two independent rolls: a colour mutation (the wiki also calls them auras) and a size in kilograms. Final income is base income multiplied by the mutation multiplier multiplied by the size multiplier — the wiki states the formula directly. The mutation table is short: Rainbow ×3.5 (roll weight 1 in 100), Parasite ×3 (only from the Parasite Egg in the feeding event), Fractured ×2.75 (from a Mutation Consumable, 10 % chance), Golden ×2.5 (4 in 100), Spirit Bloom ×2.5 (Sakura Incubator), Bloom ×1.25 (Sakura event) and Silver ×1.2 (6 in 100).
Size is the quieter multiplier and, according to the wiki, the easier one to obtain. Each pet has a hidden base weight, and up to 125 times that weight the income scales by the weight ratio to the power of 37/60; beyond that, diminishing returns apply. The wiki's own worked examples: an egg at 100× base weight earns about 17× base value, at 200× about 23×, at 1,000× about 45×. Their combination examples are the ones to memorise — Golden plus Giant is ×7.5, Rainbow plus Huge is ×17.5.
Codes: what the wiki actually says
Search 'steal an egg codes' and you will find a dozen pages listing codes. The community wiki's own Codes page, read on 13 September 2026, says the opposite in one sentence: there are no current codes in this game, and there is not even a way to redeem them. The official game description does not mention codes either. We keep a codes page anyway — because people search for it — but it explains what the real free-reward systems are (badges, the Rift's Boss Shop, event eggs) instead of inventing a list.
If a code system is ever added, that page will change on the day it is verified in-game, and the date at the top of it will move.
Spending Robux: the two things the wiki documents
The wiki lists one game pass with a price — 2x Money, 399 Robux — and a full table of temporary speed multipliers, from ×2 for 3 Robux up to ×4K for 1,375 Robux. Bear traps, by contrast, are free: you have an infinite supply, can place at most three, cannot place them in the safe zone, and anything that steps in one is held for seven seconds. The game passes page on this site walks through when the 2x Money pass pays for itself and why the speed boosts are usually the better first purchase.
How this site is built and what it will not do
Every pet page is generated from the wiki's infobox fields — name, egg, rarity, zone, income, reward, grow time — and from the zone table, with the arithmetic (mutation examples, rank within zone) done by us and labelled as ours. The wiki's text is licensed CC BY-SA 3.0; we reuse its data with attribution and the same licence, and we do not reuse its images.
We do not publish trade values, per-egg hatch chances or update schedules, because no source in our register publishes them. Where a page says the source does not document something, that is the whole answer. Corrections go to the address on the contact page and are fixed the same day.
Questions people ask
- How many pets are in Steal an Egg?
- The community wiki documents 128 pets as of 13 September 2026: eight in each of the eleven normal zones, 17 Rift pets and 23 event pets. Angels & Demons adds 16 more names on its zone page that do not yet have infoboxes.
- Does Steal an Egg have codes?
- No. The wiki's Codes page states there are no codes and no way to redeem them, and the official description does not mention a code system. Any site listing working codes is wrong as of this date.
- How much speed do I need for each zone?
- Forest none, Lake 900, Desert 10K, Jungle ~40K, Snow ~170K, Volcano ~700K, Abyss Ocean ~2.5M, Prehistoric ~17–18M, Cosmic 700M, Cherry Blossom 2.5B, Titan Temple 7B, Angels & Demons 20B — all from the wiki's Area and Angels & Demons pages.
- What is the best pet in Steal an Egg?
- By listed base income the top zone pet is the Titan Temple Nightflame at 3B/s (Divine), and the top overall is the event-only Mecha Dreadscale at $4B/s. The best pet for you is the highest-income egg you can carry home from the zone you can currently enter — see the best pets guide.
