Steal an Egg best pets: the top egg in every zone, ranked by the wiki's numbers
Steal an Egg best pets is a question with four different answers depending on what you mean by best: highest base income, best you can reach at your current speed, biggest hatch reward, or best return for the minutes an egg sits in your pen. This page answers all four from the same data — the 265 pets in our table, taken from the community wiki and read on 12–25 October 2026 — and keeps the arithmetic in the open so you can redo it when the wiki changes.
One rule before the tables: base income is for a normal-size pet with no colour mutation. A Golden Giant (×7.5) Axolotl out-earns a plain Leviathan's zone-mates and a Rainbow Huge (×17.5) anything can jump a whole rarity tier. The calculator page does that maths per pet.
Best pet you can actually farm, zone by zone
For each of the twelve zones this table gives the highest-income egg, the runner-up, and the egg we would call the practical pick — the one with a short enough grow time to survive a busy seven-player server while still moving your income. Practical picks are our judgement from the grow-time and income columns; the incomes and times are the wiki's.
| Zone (gate) | Top egg | Runner-up | Practical pick |
|---|---|---|---|
| Forest (none) | Brr Brr Patapim $1.8K/s, 5m | Bear $240/s, 2m | Brr Brr Patapim — 5 minutes is nothing |
| Lake (900) | Leviathan $220K/s, 25m | Axolotl $2.8K/s, 5m | Axolotl until you can trap a pen for 25 minutes, then Leviathan |

Best pet overall, including Rift and event pets
If you ignore how a pet is obtained, the leaderboard now belongs to the October additions, most of them added to the wiki's pet data module (rev 2636) on 23–24 October. Spirit World Guardian (Divine, Enchanted Forest) lists $26B/s on its own page; the pet data module says $15B/s. Second is Zombified Bone Emperor (Divine, Zombified Halloween Egg) at $14B/s, a separate module entry from Bone Emperor. Cursed Monarch (Divine, no biome in the module) and Voidseer Pumpkin (Divine, Halloween Dimension; $12.5B/s on its own page, $14B/s in the module) tie third at $12.5B/s. Skeletal Sabertooth (Skeletal Egg), the leader before this update, is fifth at $9B/s, ahead of Pumpkin King (Divine, no biome in the module) at $8.5B/s and Royal Skywhale (Divine, Enchanted Forest) at $8B/s. Bone Emperor (Halloween Egg) and Mecha Scrambler (the Dr. Scramble boss drop) tie eighth at $7.5B/s. Tenth is Aetheron at the 6.9B/s its own infobox lists (its card on the Angels & Demons zone page says $10B/s); it is crafted at the zone's Secret Shrine from ArchAngel and World Burner. Eleventh is Luminous Cthulhu, the Luminous Egg's re-roll form, at $6.5B/s in the pet data module (its own page has an empty infobox), and twelfth is Zombified Phantom Dragon (Eternal, Zombified Halloween Egg) at $6B/s. Then four pets tie at $5B/s: ArchAngel, Nuceodile (Dr Scramble's Lab; its own page says $5B/s, the pet data module $500M/s), Sabertooth (Extinction Egg) and World Burner. Of those sixteen, four come from the Halloween Dimension or the Zombified Halloween Egg, two from the Enchanted Forest, three from Angels & Demons, four from event or limited eggs, one from the Lab, and two have no biome in the module. Mecha Dreadscale, Octophant, Skeletal Gigantus and Zombified Grave Cerberus follow at $4B/s; Shattered Colossus, the old Rift leader, now shares 21st with Gorillastein and Pumpkin Brute at $3.5B/s, and Nightflame shares 24th with Cthulhu and Engine Snail at $3B/s.
Rift pets come from the Rift: the wiki's Rift Event page describes Overlord fights that pay Boss Tokens and Boss Mastery rewards, and a permanent Rift whose Sacrifice trades 3 pets for 1 Rift Egg from a rotating banner. Lab pets come from trading eggs in at Dr. Scramble's Laboratory, whose banner rotates between Biohazard, Experimental and Unstable DNA pools. Event pets come from limited eggs, and the wiki's Eggs page says limited eggs never spawn in normal nests and come only through the Store or special events such as Admin Abuse.
Best pet per rarity tier
Useful when you are deciding which Mythic or Cosmic to chase in a zone that has more than one. The top pet of each tier by base income, with its zone. The 25 October refresh, which added 67 pets from the wiki's pet data module, gave six of the twelve tiers a new leader.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Common | Jerboa | Desert | $6/s | Duckling (Lake) $4/s |
| Uncommon | Fennec | Desert | $18/s | Catfish (Lake) $12/s |

| Event | Archdemon Dragon | Event | $1.25B/s | Ember Dragon (Event) $600M/s |
Best pets for speed: the biggest hatch rewards
Speed is the progression stat and hatch rewards are a large part of it. The wiki lists a one-off speed reward for most zone pets. Two figures top the list: Pegasus and Skeleton Horse, the two Angels & Demons Eternals, each list +200M speed on a 5-hour egg ($140b and $130B cash). Next come two Enchanted Forest pets, Spirit World Guardian (+120M on a 20-hour egg, $200B) and Celestial Sunlion (+120M, $200B). The Angels & Demons pet pages follow with RazorFang +90M, Gargoyle and Pure Jellyfish +30m, and Holy Peacock and Demon Hound +20m, with the Enchanted Forest's Starry Fox (+32M) and Astral Jackalope (+16M) among them. Outside those two zones come Nightflame +6.8M, Kitsune +6.5m, Oni Tiger +5.4m and Gorilla King '+5,4m', Stag +4.8m and, as its infobox now reads, the 9-minute Mythic Bladehide at +4.8m. Early rewards matter most relative to the gates they help you clear. Axolotl's +4k on a five-minute egg covers almost half of the 9,100-speed gap between Lake (900) and Desert (10K) in one hatch; by contrast Cosmic Gecko's +1m is a small fraction of the 1.8B gap from Cosmic (700M) to Cherry Blossom (2.5B), which is why late-game speed comes from treadmills and trails as much as from hatching.
A tactic that follows from the data: in any zone, the cheap egg with the best speed reward per minute of grow time is worth hatching repeatedly before you move on, even though its income is forgettable.
- Forest: Bird +500 in 25s; Bear +820 in 2m; Brr Brr Patapim +1k in 5m.
- Lake: Axolotl +4k in 5m; Catfish +2.5k in 30s.
- Desert: Camel +9k in 45s; Fennec +8.1k in 30s; Jerboa +7.2k in 20s.
- Jungle: Gorilla +9.9k in 2m; Crocodile +9k in 1m; Chimpanzee +7.2k in 30s.
- Volcano: Cerberus +42k in 2h; Chillin Chilli +33k in 7m; Flaming Bull +30k in 3m.
- Cosmic: Cosmic Skeleton Boss +1.6m; Cosmic Dragon +1.4m; Cosmic Gorilla +1.2m in 7m; Cosmic Gecko +1m in 4m.
- Titan Temple: Bladehide +4.8m in 9m (as listed); Spideron +2.7m in 4m. Angels & Demons: Pegasus and Skeleton Horse +200M in 5h; Holy Peacock and Demon Hound +20m in 20m; Light Dove and Flame Sprite +3m in 5m.
Best value for grow time
Dividing base income by grow time is crude — a pet earns forever, the grow time is paid once — but it captures the real cost on a contested server: every minute in the pen is a minute someone can take the egg. By that measure the standouts are the short-grow Cosmics and Mythics in each zone: Leviathan ($220K/s for 25 minutes), Royal Sphinx ($280K/s for 30), King Mammoth ($400K/s for 15), Beluga Whale ($850K/s for 12), Bronto ($1.5M/s for 11), La Vacca Saturno Saturnita ($2.2M/s for 13), Koi ($12M/s for 25) and Rhinotaur ($17.5M/s for 29). Leviathan and Royal Sphinx are also the top pet of their zones; the rest are not, but all of them are good pets to leave in an untrapped pen. In Angels & Demons the same logic points to Sacred Moth ($16M/s for 15 minutes) and Holy Peacock or Demon Hound ($25M/s for 20 minutes), per their own pet pages.
The Eternals and Divines invert this: Spirit World Guardian's 20 hours, ArchAngel's, World Burner's and Aetheron's 18, Nightflame's 16 and Kitsune's and Unicorn's 12 are the longest waits in our table (Voidseer Pumpkin's infobox has listed no grow time since 22 October; it said '1 day' before). Those are eggs you grow with three bear traps down and a plan to be online. Several pets break the rule. Nuceodile, which its own wiki page lists at $5B/s (the pet data module says $500M/s) with a 5-minute grow time, comes from the Lab's Biohazard banner, not a nest. Bone Emperor, a Divine at $7.5B/s from the Halloween Egg, has a grow time of '~10sec' on its infobox, far shorter than any other Divine lists; we report it as written. Two Halloween Dimension Eternals, Soul Phantom ($2.5B/s) and Phantom Dragon ($1.5B/s), list the same '~10sec'.
What 'best' does not mean here
It does not mean rarest by hatch chance — no primary source publishes per-egg hatch chances (the wiki's Drop Rates page cites the game's files, and we do not republish it). It does not mean most valuable in trade — no source documents trading. For the Angels & Demons pets our table uses each pet's own infobox, and the wiki disagrees with itself on four of them: Equinox ($1.8B/s in its infobox, $2.6B/s on the zone page), Aetheron (6.9B/s on its own page, $10B/s on the zone page), and Winged Lamb and Toro ($1.2m/s on their own pages, $1.25M/s on the zone page and in the pet data module); in each case we use the infobox. Light Dove and Flame Sprite, which earlier module revisions listed at $225/s, now match their pages at $225K/s in rev 2636. And it assumes the wiki's numbers are current; each pet page on this site shows the date of the infobox revision it was built from.

Best pets that hatch in under 15 minutes
For a full server, the useful list is the one sorted by grow time. Every pet below hatches in fifteen minutes or less and pays at least $100K/s base. The rows from Nuceodile down are outliers: Nuceodile, from a Lab banner rather than a nest, and eight Halloween Dimension pets whose wiki entries list a grow time of '~10sec', ending with Bone Emperor, the highest income on this list — an odd value for a Divine that we copy as written.

Best cheap eggs to farm for speed
Speed rewards are paid per hatch, so the best farming egg in a zone is the one with the highest reward per second of grow time. Our arithmetic on the wiki's figures, by zone:
- Forest: Chicken — +420 speed in 10 seconds (42 speed per second of grow), ahead of Dog's +460 in 15 seconds (about 31/s) and Bird's +500 in 25 seconds (20/s).
- Lake: Frog — +2k in 15 seconds (about 133/s), ahead of Duckling's +2.2k in 20 seconds (110/s), Catfish's +2.5k in 30 seconds (83/s) and Axolotl's +4k in 5 minutes (13/s).
- Desert: Jerboa — +7.2k in 20 seconds (360/s); Fennec +8.1k in 30s (270/s); Camel +9k in 45s (200/s).
- Jungle: Chimpanzee — +7.2k in 30 seconds (240/s); Crocodile +9k in 1 minute (150/s).
- Titan Temple: Spideron — +2.7m in 4 minutes (about 11,250/s), ahead of Bladehide's listed +4.8m in 9 minutes (about 8,900/s).
- Angels & Demons: Holy Peacock or Demon Hound — +20m in 20 minutes (about 16,700/s), from their own pet pages; Light Dove or Flame Sprite +3m in 5 minutes (10,000/s).
- Cosmic: Centapede — +960k in 2 minutes (8,000/s), ahead of Cosmic Gecko's +1m in 4 minutes (about 4,200/s).
Angels & Demons: the newest zone's best pets
Angels & Demons is zone 12 and needs 20B speed. On an Angel night its best nest egg is ArchAngel; on a Demon night it is World Burner; both are Divine at $5B/s, and their infoboxes list grow times of '18 hours' and '18 hour'. The Eternals are Pegasus and Skeleton Horse at $1.3B/s each. Combining each side's pair at the Secret Shrine crafts Equinox (from the Eternals) and Aetheron (from the Divines); Aetheron's card on the zone page says $10B/s, but its own infobox, which our table uses, says 6.9B/s, tenth of the 265 pets in our table. Pegasus and Skeleton Horse are the practical picks here: 5 hours in the pen and the largest listed speed rewards on the wiki, +200M each, with $140b and $130B cash.
Best pet for a beginner, in one sentence per zone
Forest: Brr Brr Patapim, because five minutes and $1.8K/s is the best thing in the zone by a factor of seven. Lake: Axolotl to get there, Leviathan to stay. Desert: Scorpion or Sand Spider, and Royal Sphinx when you can hold a pen for half an hour. Jungle: Tiger for income, King Snake for the first Secret badge. Snow: King Mammoth for fifteen-minute $400K/s, Ice Dragon when you have a plan for four hours. Beyond Snow the pattern repeats: the zone's fastest Cosmic on a busy server, its Eternal or Divine on a quiet one.
Questions people ask
- What is the best pet in Steal an Egg?
- In our table, by listed base income: Spirit World Guardian (Divine, Enchanted Forest) at $26B/s on its own page ($15B/s in the wiki's pet data module), then Zombified Bone Emperor (Zombified Halloween Egg) at $14B/s, and Cursed Monarch and Voidseer Pumpkin tied at $12.5B/s (Voidseer Pumpkin's module entry says $14B/s). In the twelve zones of the per-zone table, the best are ArchAngel and World Burner in Angels & Demons at $5B/s.
- What is the best pet early on?
- Leviathan in Lake ($220K/s, 25 minutes) is the first big egg; Axolotl ($2.8K/s, +4k speed reward, 5 minutes) is the way to get there.
- What is the best Mythic?
- Citadel Snail #007, an event pet, at $12.5M/s, then Race Lizard (Event) at $5M/s on its own page ($800K/s in the pet data module) and Crowshade (Halloween Dimension) at $4.5M/s. In the twelve zones of the per-zone table, Toro and Winged Lamb (Angels & Demons) list $1.25M/s on the zone page and $1.2m/s on their own pages, ahead of Bladehide ($750k/s) and Red Panda ($450K/s).
- Which pet gives the most speed?
- Pegasus and Skeleton Horse in Angels & Demons: +200M speed each on hatch, with $140b and $130B. Next are the Enchanted Forest's Spirit World Guardian and Celestial Sunlion at +120M each, then RazorFang (Angels & Demons) at +90M; outside those two zones, Nightflame +6.8M and Kitsune +6.5m. Early, Axolotl's +4k and Camel's +9k are the ones that move you.
- Are Rift pets better than zone pets?
- Not any more at the top. The Rift's Shattered Colossus ($3.5B/s) now shares 21st place overall, behind Enchanted Forest, Halloween, Angels & Demons, Lab and event pets, and Rift pets come only from the Rift, never from a nest.
- Does a mutation change which pet is best?
- Yes. Rainbow ×3.5 or Golden ×2.5 on a mid-tier pet can out-earn a plain pet a tier up. Use the calculator.
- What is the best pet to farm on a busy server?
- The short-grow Cosmics: King Mammoth ($400K/s, 15m), Beluga Whale ($850K/s, 12m), Bronto ($1.5M/s, 11m), La Vacca Saturno Saturnita ($2.2M/s, 13m), Rhinotaur ($17.5M/s, 29m).
- Which egg gives the most speed per minute?
- Early, Desert's Jerboa (+7.2k in 20 seconds). Late, Holy Peacock or Demon Hound in Angels & Demons (+20m in 20 minutes). Both from wiki infobox rewards; the rates are our arithmetic.
- What is the best pet in Titan Temple?
- Nightflame (Divine, $3B/s, 16 hours) by income; Rhinotaur ($17.5M/s, 29 minutes) as the practical pick on a full server.
- Is Leviathan still worth it late in the game?
- Not for income — a Titan Temple Rhinotaur lists eighty times more — but its 25-minute grow time and 900-speed zone make it the safest big egg to farm while a long egg grows elsewhere.
- What are the top 3 best pets?
- By base income in our table: Spirit World Guardian ($26B/s on its own page, $15B/s in the pet data module; Divine, Enchanted Forest), then Zombified Bone Emperor ($14B/s, Divine, Zombified Halloween Egg), then Cursed Monarch (Divine, no biome in the module) and Voidseer Pumpkin (Divine, Halloween Dimension; $12.5B/s on its page, $14B/s in the module), tied at $12.5B/s. Skeletal Sabertooth, the leader before the 25 October update, is fifth at $9B/s. The wiki lists no egg for Cursed Monarch, and Zombified Bone Emperor's only listed source is the Zombified Halloween Egg, so the best everyday pet depends on your zone; see the per-zone table.
