How to play Steal an Egg: the first hour, zone by zone

You spawn in Forest next to your base. The base has pens — where eggs grow and hatched pets sit earning money — and a treadmill, where you train speed. Out in the zone are nests with eggs and, beside them, a sleeping Chicken. Forest has no speed requirement and the Chicken is the weakest guardian in the game, so nothing stops you walking up and taking an egg right now.

Servers hold seven players. Everyone else in Forest is a competitor for the same nests and, later, a threat to your pens. That never changes.

Forest holds eight eggs. In base-income order they are Chicken $1/s, Dog $2/s, Bird $8/s, Burrowing Owl $35/s, Raccoon $45/s, Fox $180/s, Bear $240/s and Brr Brr Patapim $1.8K/s. The incomes are tiny. The hatch rewards are not: every hatch pays a one-off amount of speed and cash, and in Forest the speed is what you are after. Chicken pays +420 speed, Dog +460, Bird +500, Fox +720, Bear +820, Brr Brr Patapim +1k.

Lake, the next zone, needs 900 speed. Hatch a Chicken, a Dog and a Bird — ten, fifteen and twenty-five seconds in the pen — and you have 1,380 speed from rewards alone before you have touched the treadmill. That is the first lesson of the game: early on, hatch for the reward, not the income.

The guardian sleeps next to the nest. Approach, pick up the egg, run for your base. The moment you are holding an egg you are slower — the wiki's Eggs page says the larger the egg, the heavier it is and the slower you move — so the biggest egg in the nest is not automatically the right choice. In Forest it barely matters; the Chicken is slow. From Lake onward, where a Swan guards the nests and the gate is 900 speed, the wiki's advice starts to apply: having enough speed to enter does not mean you have enough speed to get back with a large egg.

Egg colour is cosmetic. Do not wait for a colour. Do look at the shape — that is what tells you which pet is inside — and at the size, which is worth waiting for.

An egg in a pen is not yours yet. The official description's sixth line is 'steal eggs from other players', and it means exactly that: anyone on the server can walk into your base and take an egg out of your pen while it grows. Grow time is exposure time. Forest eggs are exposed for seconds, which is fine. Lake's Leviathan grows for 25 minutes; Jungle's King Snake for an hour and a half.

The free answer is the bear trap, documented on the wiki's Boosts page. You can place one only while holding an egg, you can have three down at once, you have an infinite supply, they cannot be placed in the safe zone, and anything that steps in one is stuck for seven seconds. Three traps around a pen turn a raid into a seven-second head start for you.

Every hatched pet pays its base income every second into your balance. The wiki's Pets page says that income is spent on higher-level pens, treadmills and trails, which raise your movement speed and unlock higher zones. So the spending order early on is: pens (so more eggs can grow at once), then treadmill (so training gives more speed per session), then trails.

Speed itself comes from four places: hatch rewards, treadmill training, trails, and Robux multipliers. The Robux table on the Boosts page starts at ×2 for 3 Robux and ends at ×4K for 1,375 Robux; the game passes guide covers whether any of that is worth buying. For the first hour, hatch rewards and the treadmill are enough.

Lake needs 900 speed and is guarded by a Swan. Its eggs, low to high, are Frog $3/s, Duckling $4/s, Catfish $12/s, Turtle $60/s, Trulimero Trulicina $260/s, Swan $320/s, Axolotl $2.8K/s and Leviathan $220K/s. Read that last jump again: Leviathan lists nearly eighty times the Axolotl below it, with a 25-minute grow time and a Cosmic rarity tag. It is the first egg in the game that changes your income bracket, and it is behind the lowest gate.

Axolotl is the sensible stepping stone — $2.8K/s, five minutes to grow, and a hatch reward of +4k speed and $280k that alone covers most of the gap to Desert's 10K gate. Hatch Axolotls until you can afford to defend a Leviathan for 25 minutes; then take the Leviathan.

Desert needs 10K speed (Scorpion guardian) and tops out at Royal Sphinx, $280K/s. Jungle needs roughly 40K (Tiger) and has the first Secret, King Snake at $3.5M/s. Snow needs roughly 170K (Yeti) and has the first Eternal, Ice Dragon at $65M/s. From there the gates go ~700K, ~2.5M, ~17–18M, 700M, 2.5B, 7B and 20B. The zones page lists all eight eggs in each.

Two rules from the wiki's tips carry you through all of them: train speed before attempting a new zone, and plan the route back before you steal, because later guardians are much stronger.

Codes. There are none — the wiki's Codes page says so and adds that there is not even a way to redeem them. Colour. Cosmetic. Event eggs in nests. They do not spawn there; limited eggs come from the Store or events such as Admin Abuse. Trading. No source in our register documents a trading system, so if someone in chat offers a trade, treat it as unverified. The treadmill before pens. More pens mean more eggs growing at once, which is more income and more hatch rewards; the treadmill is the second purchase, not the first.

Roblox reports that 7.8 % of players had earned the 'WELCOME!' badge on 13 September 2026 — most of the game's 2.97 billion visits are short sessions. 3.4 % had hatched a Secret, 1.7 % an Eternal, 0.8 % a Divine. If you get a King Snake out of Jungle you are already in the top few percent of everyone who ever opened the game. Set expectations accordingly and do not buy a Robux boost because a video made Divine hatches look routine.

Desert needs 10K speed and is guarded by a Scorpion. Its cheap eggs are the best speed farm in the early game: Jerboa +7.2k on a 20-second egg, Fennec +8.1k on 30 seconds, Camel +9k on 45 seconds. Four Camels are +36k, which is most of the way to Jungle's ~40K gate before the treadmill is involved. Above them, Tob Tobi Tob Tob pays $325/s, Snake $3.6K/s, then two Mythics — Sand Spider $16K/s (4m) and Scorpion $18.5K/s (5m) — and the zone's Cosmic, Royal Sphinx, at $280K/s with a 30-minute grow time.

The Desert lesson is the same as Lake's, one order of magnitude up: farm the fast eggs for speed, grow the Mythics for income, and take the Royal Sphinx only when you can trap a pen for half an hour.

When an egg hatches, the card shows the pet's name, a colour mutation label if it rolled one, a weight in kilograms, and the income per second. The wiki's Mutations page explains what you are looking at: the income is base × mutation × size, the mutation is one of Silver (×1.2), Golden (×2.5) or Rainbow (×3.5) if it came from a normal hatch, and the kilograms are the size roll, which is independent of colour. A heavy un-mutated pet is often worth more than a light Golden one. The calculator page lets you check any combination.
