Steal an Egg Boss Mastery: both boss tracks, every threshold and what pity means
Every threshold, pet, income and rule on this page is quoted from the Steal An Egg Wiki as read on 22 October 2026, with the revision of each page in the source list. Hours, percentages of progress and cumulative odds are our arithmetic on those numbers. Nobody on this site plays the game.
Short answer · Boss Mastery is a points track filled by boss defeats. On Dr. Scramble's track each defeat adds 1 point, and 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100 points unlock Eye Bat #021, Citadel Snail #007, Uncoiled Armadillo, Mecha Chompa and Pink Dragon Experiment #010: at least 50 hours at one win per 30-minute spawn. The Rift Overlord's thresholds are unpublished. The wiki gives no end date for either track.
Steal an Egg boss mastery is the reward track that fills up as you beat the game's timed bosses, and it is the part of each boss event that keeps paying after the fight is over. The wiki documents two such tracks. The first came with the Rift event, where every Overlord you defeat earns Boss Mastery Points towards rewards that include eggs pre-loaded with the Fractured mutation. The second came with Dr. Scramble's Laboratory, where each defeat of Dr. Scramble's Mecha adds exactly one point and five named pets unlock at fixed totals.
Search results for this topic tend to cover one boss at a time, so this page compares both, turns every published threshold into the minimum number of hours it takes, and sets the Mecha Scrambler's per-kill odds against the same timeline. It also answers the two questions that come up most often alongside mastery: when the track ends, and what the wiki means by pity. Where the wiki is silent (and on the Rift side it is silent about a lot), the page says so instead of filling the gap.
Two bosses, two tracks: the side-by-side
Both bosses arrive on the same 30-minute cadence and both feed a mastery track, but the amount the wiki publishes about each is very different. The Rift Event page (rev 1703) describes the track in two sentences and names no thresholds. The Dr. Scramble's Laboratory page (rev 2268) gives the point value per defeat, five totals and five pets. The table lines up everything the two pages and the Updates page (rev 1891) say.

How are Boss Mastery Points earned?
By defeating the boss, and by nothing else the wiki mentions. The Update 3 notes put it plainly: every time you defeat a boss you earn Boss Mastery Points, you progress through the track to unlock increasingly rare rewards, and the more bosses you defeat, the further you get. The Laboratory page is more exact for its boss: every time you defeat Dr. Scramble, your Boss Mastery Points go up by 1.
That single number is what makes the Dr. Scramble track plannable. Points equal wins, so the 100-point reward needs 100 wins, not 100 attempts and not 100 appearances. The Rift page never states how many points an Overlord is worth, so the same calculation cannot be made for the older track. Nor does either page say whether points earned on one boss count towards the other track, or whether a player who fails a fight earns anything. Those are open questions on the wiki as of 22 October 2026.
One fight detail is documented, and only for the Overlord: the boss periodically faints during the encounter, and while it is down each hit on its hand with the bat deals 100 damage. The wiki does not publish the Overlord's health, so it does not say how many hits a fight takes. For Dr. Scramble's Mecha, the wiki describes no fight mechanic at all.
Dr. Scramble's five rewards, with their listed incomes
The Laboratory page lists the points required as Eye Bat #021 at 10, Citadel Snail #007 at 25, Uncoiled Armadillo at 50, Mecha Chompa at 75 and Pink Dragon Experiment #010 at 100. Each pet has its own wiki page, and four of them carry a filled infobox in the Event biome. None lists a grow time or a hatch reward.
The incomes do not climb neatly with the points. Citadel Snail #007, the 25-point reward, is listed at $12.5M/s, which is 20 times the $625K/s of Uncoiled Armadillo, the 50-point reward (our arithmetic). Rarity runs the other way: the snail is Mythic and the armadillo is Cosmic. Then the final step is a cliff: Pink Dragon Experiment #010 at $2.5B/s is 200 times the snail. Of the four listed incomes, most of the value sits in the last reward.
Mecha Chompa is the gap. Its wiki page (rev 2190, edited 14 October 2026) contains an empty infobox template, so the wiki gives it no rarity, no income and no egg. A separate wiki page titled plain Pink Dragon Experiment (rev 2297, 17 October 2026) holds a few lines of stray characters rather than pet data; this page uses the numbered page, Pink Dragon Experiment 010 (rev 2280).
| Points | Reward | Rarity | Listed income | Infobox rev |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | Eye Bat #021 | Legendary | $115K/s | 2275 |
| 25 | Citadel Snail #007 | Mythic | $12.5M/s | 2277 |
| 50 | Uncoiled Armadillo | Cosmic | $625K/s | 1979 |
| 75 | Mecha Chompa | not listed | not listed | 2190 (empty) |
| 100 | Pink Dragon Experiment #010 | Eternal | $2.5B/s | 2280 |
How long does each reward take?
At least half an hour per point. Dr. Scramble appears every 30 minutes and each defeat is worth one point, so a player who wins every single appearance needs 10 × 0.5 = 5 hours for Eye Bat #021, 12.5 hours for Citadel Snail #007, 25 hours for Uncoiled Armadillo, 37.5 hours for Mecha Chompa and 50 hours for Pink Dragon Experiment #010. These are floors, our arithmetic, not estimates of a typical run: a missed spawn or a lost fight pushes every later reward back by another 30 minutes.
Seen per day, 24 hours hold 48 spawns. Fifty hours of uninterrupted wins is therefore just over two days of the clock. A shorter routine stretches the track out proportionally: a player who catches four spawns a day (about two hours of play timed to the boss) needs 100 ÷ 4 = 25 days for the final reward, and one who catches two a day needs 50 days.
The gaps between rewards are uneven: 10 points to the first reward, 15 more to the second, then 25 each for the last three. Half of the whole track, the 50 points from Uncoiled Armadillo to Pink Dragon Experiment #010, buys two rewards, one of which the wiki cannot yet describe.

The Overlord track: what the Rift Event page leaves out
Everything the wiki says about the Overlord's mastery track fits in a short paragraph. Every Overlord defeated earns Boss Mastery Points; progressing through the track unlocks increasingly valuable rewards; those rewards include eggs pre-loaded with the Fractured mutation. The Update 3 notes repeat this with the phrase Fractured Mutated Eggs.
What it leaves out is almost every number a player would plan with: points per Overlord, the point totals for each reward, how many rewards there are, which pets the Fractured eggs contain, and whether the track has an end. Any guide that gives a milestone count for the Overlord is not getting it from the wiki pages read for this site.
There is also a question of whether the Overlord still appears. The Update 6 notes say the Rift Trade-In Machine has been replaced by Dr. Scramble's Laboratory. The Rift Event page was last edited on 19 September 2026, a week before the wiki's first Update 6 pages appeared (26–27 September), and was not changed to match. The Updates page does not say the Overlord fight was removed, but it does not confirm it continues either.
Mecha Scrambler odds against the mastery clock
The Laboratory page calls Mecha Scrambler a secret boss drop and the newest Divine. Its infobox (rev 2077) puts a number on it: the wiki says the chance of it dropping from each boss kill is 0.5%, and lists the pet at $7.5B/s. That is one kill in 200 on average.
Because the drop and the mastery point come from the same win, the two progress together. The probability of at least one Mecha Scrambler after N wins is 1 − 0.995^N, our arithmetic on the wiki's 0.5% figure. By the time a player reaches the 100-point reward, that works out to 39.4%, so most players who finish the mastery track will not yet have the Divine. The 50% mark arrives at about 139 wins and the 90% mark at about 460, which at one win per 30-minute spawn is roughly 230 hours.
| Wins (= points) | Mastery reward reached | At least one Mecha Scrambler | Minimum hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | Eye Bat #021 | 4.9% | 5 |
| 25 | Citadel Snail #007 | 11.8% | 12.5 |
| 50 | Uncoiled Armadillo | 22.2% | 25 |
| 75 | Mecha Chompa | 31.3% | 37.5 |
| 100 | Pink Dragon Experiment #010 | 39.4% | 50 |
| 200 | (beyond the track) | 63.3% | 100 |
Tokens, Samples and the Boss Milestone
Each boss pays twice: mastery progress plus a currency. Overlord wins pay Boss Tokens, which the Rift Event page says buy temporary boosts in the Boss Shop (cash multipliers, speed multipliers, treadmill boosters) and a consumable Mutation Shard that the wiki says has a 10% chance of working on an egg in your pen, growing or grown. The same page's tip calls the payout a batch of Boss Shards; it does not explain whether Shards and Tokens are one currency under two names.
Dr. Scramble wins pay Samples. The Dr. Scramble Event page (rev 1792) prices its Experiment Shop in Samples: 475 for the Scrambled Mutation, 6,500 for the Experiment #001 Egg, 2,950 for the Nibbles #013 Egg, 275 for a 2x Cash Booster, and 375 each for the 1.25x Speed boost and the 2x Treadmill Booster. That page describes Samples coming from drones; the Laboratory page and Update 6 add that defeating Dr. Scramble also earns them. Neither says how many Samples one boss win gives.
The Laboratory page and Update 6 also describe a 100-tier Boss Milestone, with an OP Eternal at Tier 100. Both the milestone and the mastery track top out at 100 and both end in an Eternal: Pink Dragon Experiment #010 is listed as Eternal. The wiki presents them as two items on the page, though, and never says they are one track or names the Tier 100 pet, so this page does not merge them.
What is pity in Steal an Egg?
The wiki uses the word pity in exactly two places, and both are about banners rather than bosses. The Rift Event page's FAQ asks whether pity resets when you leave or when the banner rotates, and answers: no, pity carries over regardless of leaving the game or the banner changing. The Update 6 notes, in the list of Laboratory changes, say pity has been buffed, so that hitting pity now guarantees the top reward instead of a random top-3 reward.
Read together, those two sentences establish four things: pity is something you build up and then hit; it belongs to the banner system (first the Rift banners, then the Laboratory, which took over the trade-in role); it survives logging off and banner rotation; and since Update 6, hitting it guarantees the top reward. They establish nothing else. The wiki does not say how many trade-ins it takes to hit pity, whether the count resets to zero after it pays out, whether each banner keeps its own count, or which pet counts as the top reward.
Pity is not documented for boss fights. Nothing on the wiki attaches a pity counter to Boss Mastery, to Boss Tokens or to the Mecha Scrambler drop, so 200 boss kills without a Mecha Scrambler earns nothing extra as far as the wiki records.
- Does pity carry over when you leave the game? Yes, per the Rift Event FAQ.
- Does it carry over when the banner rotates? Yes, per the same FAQ.
- What does hitting it give? The top reward, since Update 6; before that, a random top-3 reward.
- How many attempts does it take? Not documented as of 22 October 2026.
- Does it reset after paying out? Not documented as of 22 October 2026.
When does boss mastery end?
The wiki gives no end date for either track, and this page will not guess one. The Rift Event page has no end date. The Laboratory page calls its banner permanent and gives no end date for the Mecha fights, the milestone or the mastery rewards. Neither page labels the mastery rewards as limited; the word limited appears on the wiki for the Experiment Shop rewards (Update 5 notes) and for the Sample currency and the Scrambler bat (Dr. Scramble Event page), not for mastery.
The latest dated signals in the sources are these. The Roblox Games API reports the game was last updated at 2026-10-21T16:46Z (read 22 October 2026, 749,953 playing), and the wiki's Update 7 page, created 11 October 2026, contains nothing but the heading Enchanted Forest. Neither says anything about the boss events. If a future update notes entry retires Dr. Scramble or the Overlord, the wiki's Updates page is where it should appear first, and the update guide on this site tracks that page.
Other bosses, and the gaps in the record
For mastery purposes, the list of all bosses is just the two above, because the wiki ties Boss Mastery Points only to Overlord and Dr. Scramble defeats. The Cosmic biome has a boss of its own, but the wiki attaches no mastery to it. The Cosmic Skeleton Boss infobox (rev 2428) is a Secret pet at $45M/s, and its trivia notes that the boss of the Cosmic biome shares the name; it is a stealable egg, not a mastery reward.
Three conflicts in the sources are worth knowing before trusting any summary. The Laboratory page's header says 22 new pets while the Update 6 notes say 15. The Rift Event page still describes the Rift Sacrifice even though Update 6 says the Trade-In Machine was replaced. And the Rift track is called increasingly valuable on one page and increasingly rare on another. None changes the Dr. Scramble numbers on this page, which all come from the Laboratory page's single list of points required.
Questions people ask
- How many Dr. Scramble wins does Pink Dragon Experiment #010 take?
- 100. The Laboratory page says each defeat adds 1 Boss Mastery Point and lists Pink Dragon Experiment #010 at 100 points. With a spawn every 30 minutes, that is at least 50 hours of wins on our arithmetic.
- Is the limited boss mastery ending soon in Steal an Egg?
- The wiki gives no end date and does not call the mastery rewards limited. The Laboratory banner is described as permanent. No source read on 22 October 2026 announces an end, so this page does not predict one.
- Does pity apply to the Mecha Scrambler boss drop?
- Not according to the wiki. Pity is mentioned only for banners, in the Rift Event FAQ and the Update 6 notes. The Mecha Scrambler infobox gives 0.5% per boss kill on the wiki and mentions no guarantee.
- What does pity mean in Steal an Egg?
- On the wiki it is a banner guarantee: it carries over when you leave or the banner rotates, and since Update 6 hitting it guarantees the top reward instead of a random top-3 one. The number of attempts is not published.
