Steal an Egg guide: how the game works and what to do first
A good Steal an Egg guide has to start with an admission: the game is easy to understand and the numbers behind it are not. Anyone can steal a Chicken egg. Knowing that six Forest hatches pay enough speed to skip the treadmill, that Lake's Leviathan is worth eighty Axolotls, that a Silver roll is six times more likely than a Rainbow, or that a 16-hour Nightflame egg is a 16-hour raid target — that takes the wiki's data and a bit of arithmetic. This hub is the reading order for that.
Every guide below quotes the wiki's Area, Eggs, Pets, Mutations, Boosts, Gamepasses and Rift Event pages and the official Roblox game data, and lists the sources and read date at the bottom.
Start here: the loop in one paragraph
Nests in a zone hold eggs. A guardian sleeps beside them. You take an egg, run it back to your base, drop it in a pen, wait out the grow time, and the pet that hatches pays money every second. Money buys pens, treadmill upgrades and trails; treadmill training and hatch rewards raise your speed; speed opens the next zone, whose eggs pay more. Servers hold seven players, all of whom can walk into your base and take an egg out of your pen. That is the game, per the official description and the wiki's Eggs page.
The guides, in the order to read them
The beginner guide covers the first hour: Forest hatch rewards, the Lake gate, why Leviathan matters. Best pets is a data ranking, zone by zone. Secret pets covers the Secret, Eternal and Divine tiers and how rare Roblox's badge numbers say they are. The Rift event page explains the timed Overlord fights, Boss Tokens, Boss Mastery and the three rotating banners. Speed is the progression stat, so the speed guide walks through every source of it and what the Robux boosts cost. Game passes and boosts covers the one documented pass and the multiplier table. Values explains what determines a pet's worth — and why this site publishes no value list.

Five numbers to memorise
If you read nothing else, these five sourced figures shape most decisions. Nests reset every five minutes (Eggs page). Zone gates run 900 → 10K → ~40K → ~170K → ~700K → ~2.5M → ~17–18M → 700M → 2.5B → 7B → 20B (Area and Angels & Demons pages). Rainbow is ×3.5 at 1/100, Golden ×2.5 at 4/100, Silver ×1.2 at 6/100 (Mutations page). Bear traps: three at a time, seven-second hold, none in the safe zone (Boosts page). And 0.8 % of players had hatched a Divine on 13 September 2026 (Roblox badge statistics).
| Number | What it decides | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 5 minutes | How long to wait for a nest to refill | Wiki — Eggs |
| 900 / 10K / ~40K … | When to move to the next zone | Wiki — Area |
| ×3.5 / ×2.5 / ×1.2 | How much a colour roll is worth | Wiki — Mutations |
| 3 traps, 7 seconds | How to defend a growing egg | Wiki — Boosts |
| 0.8 % | How rare a Divine hatch really is | Roblox badge statistics, 2026-09-13 |
Mistakes the numbers rule out
Camping a nest for a colour: colour is cosmetic, per the Eggs page. Entering a zone the moment you hit the gate: the Area page warns that the return trip with a large egg needs more speed than the entry. Leaving a nine-hour egg in an untrapped pen on a full server: the pen is open to six other players for nine hours. Spending a Mutation Shard on a low-base pet: the 10 % chance is worth the same, the payoff is not. Looking for event eggs in a nest: limited eggs never spawn there. Believing a codes list: the wiki's Codes page says there are no codes and no redeem screen.
How this hub grows
New guides are added when a question shows up in search data or in the game's community and the register has enough sourced material to answer it properly. Each guide carries a last-updated date that moves only when its content is actually re-checked. If you want a topic covered, the contact page is the place to ask.

The game in official numbers
Steal an Egg was created on 25 July 2026 by the Roblox group 'and Collect Rare Pets', which had 59,656,939 members on 13 September 2026. On that day the Roblox API reported 2,000,966 players online, 2,969,352,424 visits and 3,693,697 favourites; the game was last updated on 12 September 2026, holds seven players per server, and is tagged Simulation › Tycoon. Those are the only traffic numbers on this site and they are dated because they change by the minute.
Which guide answers which question
A map from the questions players type to the page that answers them from sourced numbers.
| If you are asking… | Read |
|---|---|

| Which egg is worth the run here? | Best pets (per zone, per rarity, per grow time) |
| What does Golden / Rainbow / Huge do? | Mutations (table + formula) and the Calculator |
| What are Secret, Eternal, Divine? | Secret pets (all 32, with badge-verified rarity) |

The words the game uses
Terms as the wiki and the official description use them. If a word is not here, it is probably borrowed from another game.
- Nest — where eggs spawn in a zone; resets every five minutes.
- Guardian — the creature sleeping beside a nest; one per zone.
- Pen — the base slot where an egg grows and a hatched pet sits earning.
- Treadmill — base equipment for training speed; upgradeable; top tier has the Angelic Treadmill badge.
- Trail — a purchasable speed upgrade; top tier has the Divine Trail badge.
- Mutation / aura — the colour roll on a hatched pet (Silver, Golden, Rainbow and event auras).
- Size / weight — the kilogram roll on a hatched pet, independent of colour.
- Rift — the event's timed boss encounter and the permanent lobby banner.
- Overlord — the Rift boss; defeating it pays Boss Tokens and Mastery Points.
- Boss Shop / Boss Mastery — where tokens are spent; the reward track for boss kills.
- Rift Sacrifice — three random pets for one Rift Egg.
- Banner — one of three rotating Rift egg pools (Riftborn, Riftbeasts, Shattered Rift).
- Pity — the Rift's carry-over counter; it does not reset on leaving or rotation.
- Bear trap — free pen defence; three at once, seven-second hold, not in the safe zone.
- Safe zone — the area where traps cannot be placed.
What the register does not contain
A trading system. Per-egg hatch chances. Treadmill and trail prices. Store prices for limited eggs. Update schedules. Pet base weights. The Angels & Demons pets' incomes. When a guide here is silent on one of these, it is because every source we accept is silent too; the editorial process page explains the rule.
The twelve zones in one table
Every zone with its gate, guardian and top nest pet, so the whole ladder fits on one screen. The zones page has all eight pets for each.

| Lake | 900 | Swan | Leviathan $220K/s |

| Jungle | ~40K | Tiger | King Snake $3.5M/s |
| Snow | ~170K | Yeti | Ice Dragon $65M/s |

When to stop reading and go play
Now, honestly. The guides are reference material for the moment you hit a gate or lose an egg; the game teaches the rest. Come back for the zone table when a gate stops you, the calculator when you are choosing between two eggs, and the Rift guide on the half-hour.
